Collett has begun the delivery of 120 turbine components and accompanying parts from the King George V dock in Glasgow to the Solwaybank wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
The components will form 15 Vestas V100 wind turbines, each featuring 49 m-long blades and 75 m-high towers.
For the turbine towers, the Collett team is mobilising its four-axle extendable flat trailers and Scheuerle clamp trailers for the transport. Due to limited space at the King George V dock, 24 of the tower sections will be moved from the port of Grangemouth.
Collett is utilising three Nooteboom Super Wing Carriers, which can be extended from 18.65 m to 64. 3 m and provide a 60-degree steering angle, for the delivery of the blades.
At the project site, a 750-tonne capacity crane will install the turbines.
The deliveries began in July 2020 and will continue for nine weeks.
