Bolloré Logistics has transported two oversized tanks for the French beverage company Castel Group.
Castel Group, through its subsidiary in Benin, Société Béninoise de Brasseries (SOBEBRA), contracted Bolloré to deliver the tanks as part of modernisation of its production plant.
Bolloré Logistics Benin handled the Customs clearance and local logistics for project.
Upon arrival in the port of Cotonou, the tanks, which weighed 17.4 tons (15.8 tonnes) and measured 17 m x 5 m x 5 m each, were loaded onto specialised trailers for onward transportation to the project site, 3 km away.
For the road transport, Bolloré and SOBEBRA conducted a route survey and obtained authorisation from the Agence Nationale des Transports Terrestres (ANATT) of Benin, so that the convoy could cross the bridge over the Cotonou Lagoon.
Meanwhile, EIFFAGE Rails France contracted Bolloré to transport two tamping machines, used to position railway tracks, for the construction of rail infrastructure for the Dakar-Blaise Diagne International Airport (BDIA) regional express train, located in Senegal.
Both machines measured 19 m x 3 m x 4 m and weighed 75 tons (68 tonnes) and 64 tons (58 tonnes) respectively.
Bolloré used two 200-ton (181.4-tonne) capacity cranes to load the tamping machines from Mafi trailers at the port of Dakar on to specialised trailers.
One of the tamping machines was delivered to the Dakar train station, while the second unit was transported to the town of Bargny, located 30 km from Dakar.
