Blue Water Shipping organised the relocation of two drill rigs for Anitua Radial Drilling from Western Australia to Papua New Guinea.
The rigs will be used at phase 14a of Newcrest Mining’s Lihir gold project in the country. The local team secured over-height and oversize permits, ensuring the safe delivery of the cargoes. Subsequently, the team loaded the equipment onto the multipurpose vessel BBC Ocean vessel for export to Lihir.
Patrick Fitzgerald, project manager at Blue Water Oceania, said: “This project showcased our team’s capabilities in handling complex logistics with precision and efficiency. We are pleased to have successfully delivered on our commitments, ensuring the safe relocation of the drill rigs for Anitua Drilling Services.”
In November 2022, Blue Water launched a regular liner service between North Asia and Papua New Guinea, before extending its service to Lihir, having time-chartered three dedicated vessels. It has since opened offices in Port Moresby and Lae.
