During October, AAL Shipping helped relaunch the 118-year-old Australian sailing ship Alma Doepel.
The ship has been in a dry dock for rebuilding, where over 80,000 volunteer hours have been spent on returning the Alma Doepel to its former glory. Work is still under way and it is expected to take another two years to complete the restoration work.
For its part, AAL donated its operational and engineering expertise. The 31,000 dwt heavy lift vessel AAL Shanghai was calling at Melbourne on a southbound journey from North Asia to discharge transformers. After discharging the cargo, AAL Shanghai’s heavy lift cranes lifted and manoeuvred the historic ship onto the water from a barge.
