The project is being led by the Flemish Roads and Traffic Agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer - AWV). Sarens was tasked with installing 24 new bridge beams – each weighing 41 tonnes – which it completed across two days.

Despite logistical challenges, such as securing special permits to transport heavy cranes and trailers along the highway in that the bridge crosses, Sarens was able to get to work. It opted for an LTM 1450-8.1 mobile telescopic crane, with 104 tonnes of ballast, and coordinated the transport and installation of additional counterweights too.

The bridge will improve the current local traffic flow enabling the crossing over the highway. One of the key features of the new bridge is an integrated ecoduct, designed to allow animals to safely cross the motorway, marking a step forward in combining infrastructure development with environmental responsibility.

Sarens has also added to its self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) fleet by purchasing more than 100 axle lines from Cometto, with part of the new units having already been delivered.

Last week, HLPFI reported that Sarens had been in action at the Greater Changhua offshore wind farm.
