Universal Transport has added a 68-m long vessel bed trailer to its fleet.
The trailer consists of 14 axle lines and weighs 230 tons (208.7 tonnes). It can hold up to 160 tons (145.1 tonnes) of cargo.
The vessel bed was specially designed for a project transporting locomotives from Kassel in Germany.
According to Universal Transport, equipment fitted onto the trailer means that rail vehicles can be easily loaded on a ramp. This means that lifting operations with a crane are not required.
In contrast to conventional rail trailers, Universal Transport said that the vessel bed is lower, so vehicles up to a height of 4.4 m can be transported.
