Italian terminal operator Spinelli has ordered its first Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour crane for its facility in Genoa.
The order was booked in July 2022 and the crane will be delivered in December. The group owns and operates the Spinelli Genoa Port Terminal (GPT) in Genoa, focusing on container handling. “We’ve operated Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour cranes at the terminal since 2014, and now we’re ready to upgrade, so we’re very pleased to order the new Generation 6. With better performance, a doubled service life for container handling and improved eco-efficiency, we expect great things from the crane,” said Aldo Spinelli, ceo of Spinelli.
The unit has a working radius of 61 m and a capacity of 125 tonnes to serve vessels up to super post-Panamax class. It a hybrid drive consisting of a diesel engine that complies with EU Stage V emission standards paired with ultra-capacitors to provide additional power for heavy lifts. The ultra-capacitors are refilled by the collection of lowering and braking energy. It also has built-in readiness for an external power supply.
