The Netherlands-based Rometal Constructive Solutions has acquired an Eco1000 self-propelled transporter from Cometto.
The four-axle Cometto Eco1000, equipped with an 85 Kw power pack, has a payload of 171 tonnes. The unit is now responsible for transporting heavy steel components within the Rometal plant, and for moving large structures into position on construction sites.
“A key factor in the purchase was the complete metallisation of the vehicle,” said Piet Alblas, managing director at Rometal. This surface protection makes the trailer resistant to corrosion in tough everyday working conditions and ensures a long service life.
The trailer has already been used to move a steel pipe with a diameter of 1.5 m and a length of 44 m. “We’re talking about an overhang of 17.6 m at the front and rear of the vehicle for the 86-tonne element,’ said Joachim Kolb, sales manager at Cometto. Automatic level control was described as “the decisive help for the driver to carry out the transport safely”.
