South Korean transport and logistics service provider, Poslogitec, has modernised one of its Kamag industrial lift transporters (IHT) with a new drive unit lowers emissions and improves fuel economy.
Poslogitec works with steel producer POSCO and uses its fleet of Kamag IHTs to transport steel sheet rolls at the steelworks at port of Kwangyang. With some units in the company’s 70-strong fleet nearing 40 years old, Poslogitec has opted to retrofit vehicles to bring them up to current standards.
TII Kamag explained: “Adaptation to accommodate new transport tasks, functional enhancements, performance optimisation and the best possible environmental compatibility speak heavily in favour of modernisation or retrofitting carried out by the specialists at TII Kamag.”
The first IHT in Poslogitec’s fleet to be modernised is a five-axle model with a 110-tonne payload capacity. The retrofit included the welding on of a new rear end with space for an exhaust gas after-treatment unit and replacing the existing engine with a new power pack unit (PPU) complete with a modern status display.
The oldest Kamag IHTs in the Poslogitec fleet still have air-cooled engines, which are be replaced by Stage 5 power pack units with modern exhaust after-treatment systems.
TII Kamag said that its retrofit offer applies to almost all of its own types of vehicles and includes functional and sustainability upgrades.
