Netherlands-headquartered Mammoet has become the world’s first user of Green Pin Tycan chain for lifting operations, according to Green Pin Tycan manufacturer, Van Beest.
Mammoet started using Green Pin Tycan chains, which are made from Dyneema fibre, in March 2018. The lightweight chain is used daily on Mammoet’s harbour crane for lifting a variety of types of equipment.
“We are always looking for new, innovative solutions to exceed the highest safety standards,” explained Wouter van Noort, managing director of Mammoet Europe and Russia. “Green Pin Tycan helps us achieve that.”
Green Pin Tycan chains feature the same strength and flexibility as steel chain but is eight times lighter, claims Van Beest. “Its soft touch makes it very kind to the hands and backs of operators, and minimises damage when transporting valuable and often vulnerable cargo,” said Van Beest.
Green Pin Tycan chain has a 5-tonne working load limit (WLL) and weighs 0.58 kg per metre.
