Konecranes’ Gottwald ESP. 7B MHC will be deployed to Belgium.

Euroports Group is adding to its heavy handling capacity at North Sea Port (Ghent, Belgium) with the acquisition of a ESP. 7B mobile harbour crane (MHC). Meanwhile, Transped of Italy ordered an ESP. 7 MHC.

Euroports’ MHC is equipped with a four-rope grab system, a 52-tonne grab curve, plus a 51-m reach, which permits it to handle bulk carriers up to Panamax class. The crane can handle heavy project cargo too, thanks to its 125-tonne maximum lifting capacity. The order was made in Q3 2024 following the opening of the ‘nieuwe sluis’ in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, with delivery expected before the end of Q1 2025.

Meanwhile, Italian steel handling firm Transped – part of the Italian FHP Group – will deploy its unit at Venezia-Marghera port. The order was made in Q4 2024 and will be delivered during Q2 2025.

Transped placed an order for a Konecranes’ Gottwald ESP. 7.

“Transped handles more than 2 million tonnes of steel each year, so we need equipment that ensures precision, stability and high lifting capacity over long periods,” said Mauro Marchiori, executive director of Venice Terminals di Venezia at Transped. The company has operated a Generation 5 mobile harbor crane for many years; the new crane’s working radius of 51 m and maximum lifting capacity of 125 tonnes means it can handle heavier weights when working at the same range. “With its extended working radius, this… harbour crane will significantly enhance our efficiency across different types of steel cargo,” said Marchiori.
