An Enerpac JS-250 jack-up system has been utilised for the assembly of an 820-ton (743.9-tonne) maritime steel platform in the Netherlands.
The steel structure, which measured 28 m wide and 56 m long, was constructed at ground level before the jack-up system raised the platform to a height of 7 m, enabling the installation of 16 supporting legs.
"The JS-250 jack-up system is ideal for assembly of large steel frameworks," said Jeremy Stubbs, UK sales and global product manager at Enerpac Heavy Lifting Technology. "For the maritime platform, the jack-up system allowed safe working at ground level while enabling the platform to be raised to 7 m and mechanically secured over an extended period."
The multi-point lifting system, comprising four jack-up towers, uses hydraulic cylinders that lift and stack steel barrels to lift the load in increments.
Managed by a single operator, each tower's lifting and lowering operations occur simultaneously, while the jack-up's synchronous technology maintains the balance of the load.
