With a 700-tonne lattice boom, the LR 1700-1.0W provide Aguado with versatility, high load capacities and a modernised variable boom system, said Liebherr. The narrow-track variant of the LR 1700-1.0 – launched at the beginning of 2024 – is designed specifically for wind power projects and the first its type in the Aguado fleet.

“The LR 1700-1.0W is a very versatile crane that is easy to move. And it is significantly more powerful than its predecessor, the LR 1600/2,” said Mario Aguado, head of the company’s wind power division. “The procurement of the Liebherr LR 1700-1.0 crawler crane is part of our investment and fleet renewal plan, whereby we are focusing on modern and innovative crane technology.”

Liebherr’s LR 1700-1.0 can assemble wind turbines with hub heights of up to 170 m

Aguado already has other Liebherr models within its fleet – the LG 1750, LR 11000, and LR 1600/2.

Aguado’s newest fleet addition is being used to assemble eight wind turbines at the Cascante wind farm in Navarra, Spain, with hub heights of 119 m. However, the LR 1700-1.0W can assemble wind turbines with hub heights of up to 170 m.

The crawler crane offers higher load capacities and hub heights than its predecessor thanks to a more powerful basic machine along with its 3.5 m-wide H-lattice type sections in the lower area of the main boom, which increase the crane’s lateral stability. The 1700-1.0 also has the option of a luffing jib, unlike the LR 1600/2.
