September 2 - Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) is to support the Port of Zeebrugge at its open day in the Belgium-EU Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai later this month.
While it is better known as a car transport, WWL also handles wheeled high and heavy equipment and breakbulk cargoes on its car carriers. This is especially important as Chinese government support for infrastructure projects and construction investment is driving a demand for heavy lift and construction equipment, much of which is imported.
Trond Tonjum, managing director, WWL China said: "Continued strong Chinese government support for the construction sector is leading to continued growth in projects and better than expected equipment sales in 2010."
The purpose of the port's open day is to demonstrate to Chinese manufacturers the benefits of using Zeebrugge for the import and export of new vehicles and rolling equipment.
World Expo 2010, which opened in May, is expected to attract over 70 million visitors by the time it closes at the end of October this year.
