ALS Group managing director René van de Vin is retiring from his role and will be succeeded by Faheem Hoosen.
Van de Vin’s career in the freight sector spans 41 years, starting in 1982 at his father’s freight forwarding company in the Netherlands. He acquired 100 percent ownership of the ALS Group in 2008, and a year later a deal was struck with P. Schwandner Transport with a 50 percent shared ownership of ALS.
In 2012, Wallenius Wilhelmsen acquired a 60 percent stake in ALS before taking full ownership of the firm in 2022.
Van de Vin will remain with ALS in a full-time advisory capacity until the end of the year.
Hoosen, meanwhile, has worked with Wallenius Wilhelmsen for 16 years, 13 of which were spent in various positions in South Africa. The last three years, he has served as general manager for solutions Middle East.
