Universal Africa Lines (UAL) and BOCS Bremen Overseas Chartering and Shipping (BOCS) are combining their liner services and vessels that operate from Europe to West Africa.
BOCS operates five geared multipurpose vessels, while UAL’s fleet includes seven geared vessels with a lifting capacity up to 360 tonnes.
The alliance will start with charter agreements whereby each line will maintain its own identity and agency network.
“The clientele will benefit from more flexibility, in particular extended port coverage, even faster transit times and an increased number of sailings,” according to Björn Hollnagel, managing director of BOCS.
BOCS has also taken delivery of the multipurpose vessel BOCS Vision. The ship entered service in February and can handle heavy lift cargoes weighing up to 160 tonnes.
