March 22 - Buss Port Logistics' joint venture company with Erkport Lojistik, BussErk, has secured a two-year contract with Gübretas Terminal in southern Turkey, which covers the handling of bulk, general and project cargoes.
BussErk managing director Emrah Gezgin said that, as part of the contract, it is making investments in cranes and handling equipment. BussErk will also provide stevedoring services and manpower. It expects to employ 70 staff at the terminal.
At the Gübretas Terminal, BussErk will handle a wide variety of logistics and handling operations, including warehousing, packing and transport services. The company will also assist with sales and marketing for the terminal.
BussErk has also extended its contract at the nearby LimakPort in Iskenderun by another two years. The company employs around 160 staff at the port and intends to make further investments in handling equipment at the Turkish gateway.
"The Turkish market has long been a strategic target for us," said Buss Port Logistics ceo Marco Neelsen. "The Gübretas contract gives us the opportunity to showcase our capabilities and our productivity, while reinforcing our presence in southeastern Turkey and in the hinterland."
