June 19 - The merging of Speter SpA and La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT), which is owned by Contship Italia Group, has been approved by both companies' boards of directors.
Contship Group, via LSCT, acquired 45 percent of the Speter company shares in 2010, and has contributed to Speter's commercial reorganisation since then.
Speter is the main multipurpose terminal operating in La Spezia and has achieved positive results, which suggest growing expectations in the general cargo and breakbulk handling business, said Contship.
In 2013, Speter handled in excess of 630,000 tonnes of cargo and posted a turnover of EUR19.6 million, while LSCT's turnover was in excess of EUR106 million.
