April 20 - Julio Eduardo Simões has been appointed as president of the National Association of Heavy Goods and Exceptional Cargo and Transport Companies (Sindipesa) In Brazil.
Formerly vice president of transportation at the association, Simões replaces Albino da Cruz Lopes, who resigned his position.
Simões is president of Locar - a Brazil-headquartered crane rental and transport engineering services provider. Sindipesa said Simões assumes the presidency of the association at a challenging time for the heavy transport industry; his goal is to address inefficiencies caused by road infrastructure, excessive bureaucracy and high costs - particularly in the state of São Paulo.
