Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has selected the Renewable Energy Base Oostende (REBO) at the Belgium port for the construction of 58 wind turbines destined for the SeaMade offshore wind farm.

In 2020, the REBO terminal will be used for the construction and relocation of the towers, nacelles and blades for the 487 MW wind farm, located approximately 40 to 50 km off the Belgian coast.

Speaking about the port of Oostende, Emmanuël Timmermans, business development manager of REBO, said: “The Rentel project has just been completed, the foundations for the Northwester II windfarm in Oostende will be installed in 2019, and for 2020 there is now the agreement with SeaMade.”

The 58 wind turbines for the SeaMade scheme have a hub height of 109 m and a rotor diameter of 167 m.
