November 30 - Advertisements placed in the specialist shipping media indicate that Scanscot Shipping's Scan Brasil which is currently under arrest in Durban Harbour will be sold by means of a judicial public auction.
The advertisements indicate that the auction will take place on December 9, 2010 at 11:00 under a notice given by theNatal High Court, Durban, (in the exercise of its Admiralty Jurisdiction) in Case No. A159/2010.
HLPFI understands that Admiralty Shipbrokers & Consultants ("Admiralty Shipsales"), has been appointed by the Natal High Court, together with A.R. Brink & Associates, to conduct the auction at Edward Nathan Sonnenberg's, 1 Richefond Place, Ridgeside Office Park, Umhlanga, Durban.
According to the advertisements, the vessel will be sold free of encumbrances and liens by operation of law and subject to the conditions of sale, copies of which, together with photographs, schedules, Status of Certificates, Deck Plans and Ship's Drawings, will be made available on request or can be accessed via the internet athttp://www.admiralty.co.za under "Auctions".
As reported here on November 8, Scanscot Shipping filed for insolvency late last month.
