June 27 - A 500 tonne Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 is the fourth new Liebherr mobile crane that corrosion protection company, Rostocker Korrosionsschutz, based in Rostock, Germany, has purchased in just two years.
The company's motto: "We move what we handle" required it to investment in its own fleet of cranes, which is now considerably enhanced with the LTM 1500-8.1. The first crane was the LTM 1200-5.1, followed by an LTM 1350-6.1. The fleet also includes the compact LTC 1045-3.1, which is ideally suited for harbour work with its telescopic cab, says Liebherr.
Managing director Detlef Krebs explained the company's strategy while collecting the new mobile crane from the factory in Ehingen: "We provide a full service. It is very important to have lifting equipment in various load capacity categories, because this allows us to optimise our production processes and deploy our personnel optimally."
Rostocker Korrosionsschutz is part of the Krebs Group that was founded in 1949 and which now employs almost 400 people at nine locations throughout Germany. The company has a modern fleet with 220 vehicles, including heavy-duty modules.
For the the Krebs Group, as a corrosion protection company, the offshore industry is a very important and rapidly growing arena.
The LTM 1500-8.1 will be based at Bremerhaven to move and erect towers for offshore wind turbines.
