March 16 - RollDock Shipping has purchased RollDock Sky from Larsen & Toubro India (L&T).
RollDock and L&T ended their cooperation in 2013, following a lengthy dispute with the Indian shipyard, which saw only two out of six ships delivered.
In 2012, a frustrated RollDock placed orders for two semi-submersible vessels - RollDock Star and RollDock Storm - at the German shipyard, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG).
However, L&T continued building RollDock Sky - the sister ship of RollDock Sun and RollDock Sea.
RollDock explained that during a recent visit to the Indian yard, it was impressed by the quality and progress of the newbuild so decided to purchase the ship, in spite of moderate market conditions.
RollDock Sky will go directly into service after some upgrades, said the company.
"We are very proud that despite the unfavorable economic times, we are still able to maintain the growth strategy of our business," said Roll Group ceo Wout van der Zwan.
Meanwhile, RollDock's joint venture with BigLift Shipping - BigRoll Shipping - has four MC Class vessels under construction, which are scheduled for delivery within the next 12 months.
