"South America is one of the major growth regions in the world. We believe that by acquiring 100 percent of our local partner we have gained a strong position in the market," says Thomas Hansen, Röhlig ceo Americas/Africa.
The company says that global expansion of its network is an important part of Röhlig's Strategy 2018 and since its acquisition of a stake in Procargo in 2011, it has strengthened its presence in South America and seen business volumes increase considerably since 2011.
The company now has Röhlig-branded subsidiaries in Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, as well as agency agreements with local partners in other important markets such as Brazil and Columbia, and a company spokesperson confirmed the project cargoes were an important development goal in South America.
The Weiss-Röhlig branch in Miami, USA, serves as a gateway between the South and North American markets.
