January 15 - UTC Overseas has appointed Ronald Porter as its senior project advisor, to be based at the company's Houston offices.
Porter has more than 40 years' experience in the transport and logistics industry, as well as knowledge of the oil and gas sector, having worked for Worley Parson Resources and Energy, Aker Solutions and Santos Oil.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics, Porter was keynote speaker at the first Breakbulk Asia conference in Singapore and has often served as moderator or panellist for the annual event.
This news comes alongside UTC's announcement that it has formed a new division to serve the logistics needs of food and beverage production and packaging manufacturers.
"Whether it is cans or food and beverage processing equipment, our challenge is to deliver each specialised unit on time and in the proper installation sequence," said UTC vice president and director of project development, Martha Rojas.
UTC executive vice president Marco Poisler added that many of these new food and beverage production and packaging manufacturing facilities are in developing countries, which can "often mean dealing with substandard roads and infrastructure, cross-border challenges, and intensive vetting of service providers".
