January 7 - The Port of Everett's marine terminal director Dave Madill is to retire in April 2015, with current marketing director Walter Seidl appointed to replace him.
Madill joined the port in 2007 after more than 30 years of marine terminal experience at the Port of Portland in Oregon. During his time as marine terminal director, the Port of Everett has more than doubled its tonnage and container volumes.
"My background was primarily in container operations," said Madill, "so it was fascinating navigating all the challenges and opportunities that comes with the logistics of handling overdimensional cargoes."
Seidl, who will assume the responsibilities of his new role this month in order to help a smooth transition, was hired by the port in 2013 in order to attract new customers and cargoes to the gateway. Seidl will report to the port's chief operating officer, Carl Wollebek.
In light of Madill's retirement and Seidl's promotion, the Port of Everett will be seeking a new marketing director in mid-2015.
