September 26 - The Port of Everett is adding additional lift capacity to its operations in March 2015, with the purchase of a new 150-tonne capacity Terex GHMK 7608 mobile harbour crane.
The Port of Everett says that the USD5.1 million investment will allow it to better accomodate its niche market of over-dimensional cargoes, and provide opportunities for new heavy lift business.
"With the addition of the GHMK 7608 and the authorised investments to upgrade our current mobile harbour crane, we will continue to be the preferred port of call for the construction and energy industries," said Carl Wollebek, the port's chief operating officer.
Working in tandem, the port's two mobile harbour cranes will have a total capacity of 250 tonnes.
Engineering work is also underway at the port to construct a 140 ft heavy lift pad at the port's South Terminal facility. This pad, which is estimated to cost USD2.5 million, will allow for both ro-ro cargo operations and mobile harbour crane operations at the terminal. This infrastructure investment is out to bid and is scheduled for completion in 2015.
