May 25 - The Port of Antwerp congratulated Chipolbrok on its 60th anniversary during the recent Breakbulk Conference in Antwerp.
Luc Arnouts, chief commercial officer, Port of Antwerp, thanked the shipping line for its loyalty to the port over all those years and presented a statue to Chipolbrok's general director, Janusz Janiszweski.
Janiszweski stressed that Antwerp has always been very important for Chipolbrok and that it still was the largest breakbulk port in Europe.
Unlike some other ports on the European mainland, Antwerp did not only evolve as a container facility, he said. It always gave breakbulk the necessary attention which is confirmed by the many investments and cargo handling facilities.
At the end of the short ceremony, Arnouts and Janiszweski also signed a 'Friendship Pact'.
Chipolbrok, a Chinese-Polish collaboration, was formed on June 15, 1951 and in the last 60 years has emerged as an important breakbulk and project cargo carrier. Antwerp has always been an important base for the company.
