September 29 - James McDermott Jr. will retire from his position as executive director of Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA) on April 15, 2016.
Joining PRPA in 1991 and being appointed executive director in 1994, McDermott will have held the position for almost 21 years when he retires.
During his tenure, McDermott has played a part in the Delaware River Channel Deepening Project and PRPA's Southport Project, while advancing a number of other projects to grow the port and its cargo mix, said the US gateway.
No successor has yet been decided, but Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and the PRPA board will now begin searching for a replacement.
