October 6 - Langh Ship Cargo Solutions' sales manager, Mika Saarinen, told at Metal Bulletin's Steel Logistics Conference about the new solutions that will facilitate the transportation of steel products together with other heavy cargoes.
Saarinen explained that the recent economic downturn led to reduced transport volumes and frequencies leaving operators looking to improve vessel utilisation by sharing the cargo capacity between different products.
Saarinen said that this required multipurpose transportation solutions and introduced various options offered by Langh Ship and Langh Ship Cargo Solutions built to suit both container traffic and bulk traffic.
One solution enables large steel coils to be transported as deck cargo and enables an ordinary container to carry steel cargoes via the use of cradle cassettes. Some of the containers are also equipped with bulk hatches, which increases their multipurposeness on the return leg.
The 20' Side Open Container is suitable for transportation of both steel coils and steel plates.
