Finland’s port of Helsinki has appointed Vesa Marttinen as vice president of its cargo traffic business, succeeding Jukka Kallio.

Marttinen has previously held international positions in the seafaring and maritime sector. He has also been involved in circular economy, environmental protection and digitalisation development projects in shipping.

“Vesa’s strengths in customer-centric business management, cooperation with interest groups and development project follow-through provide an excellent basis for the development of our cargo business and we are excited to have him on board,” said Ville Haapasaari, ceo of the port of Helsinki.

Marttinen will start in his new post in June.
