Mammoet Belgium has opened a base at the port of Antwerp aimed at supporting the region’s petrochemical and industrial sectors.

The company observed: “The port of Antwerp is home to the largest integrated oil and chemical cluster in Europe. The area has recently secured the biggest investment in the European chemical industry in the past two decades, with plans for a EUR3 billion (USD3.4 billion) propane dehydrogenisation (PDH) plant and an ethane cracker unit to be built.”

Mammoet’s investment in the new facility includes a fleet of new cranes with capacities ranging from 40 to 500 tons (36.3 to 453.6 tonnes), tower cranes and SPMTs, as well as an expanded workforce.

The new base is located on the harbour, adjacent to the large deepwater Liberty Dock.
