September 27 - Swedish logistics company Logent is set to take over the running of the Arken multimodal terminal at the Port of Gothenburg.
"We are extremely pleased that Logent, which also operates our car terminal, is continuing to grow at the Port of Gothenburg. We believe that Logent can ensure even better coordination between the various modes of transport, working in the best interests of the customer," says Claes Sundmark, vice president business area cargo at the Port of Gothenburg.
The company operates several multimodal terminals throughout Sweden, including Umeå, Stockholm Årsta, Sundsvall and Hallsberg.
According to the Port of Gothenburg there are currently 25 rail shuttles operating between the port and cities throughout Sweden; dedicated trains for steel, cars carriers and energy products operate to the port daily.
"We want to focus even more on increasing the number of units transported by rail, including trailers and other ro-ro units, and we are convinced that Logent will be an excellent partner in this initiative," Sundmark added.
