December 16 - Recently appointed member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Qatar, JSL Global, has coordinated the shipment of oil and gas pipes from China to Doha.
The pipes, which weighed a total of 1,612 tonnes, were shipped into Doha port, where JSL Global handled the import Customs clearance and onward transport to the client's site in Ras Laffan.
The road transport required the use of over 120 trucks and flatbed trailers. Such movements required special permits, explained JSL Global.
On arrival at the final destination, the cargo was discharged using telescopic forkifts and cranes.
JSL Global also completed the transport of 966 steel plates from Germany to Doha. The plates, which weighed a total of 2,050 tonnes, were transported overland to the job site using in between 90 and 120 flatbed and lowbed trailers.
The company explained that the project was a particularly challenging one due to congestion at Doha port, as well as transportation issues and unexpected delays in Customs clearance.
