October 6 - Associated British Ports' (ABP) Port of Immingham has expanded its crane fleet with the addition of a Terex / Gottwald HMK 170 EG mobile harbour crane.
The crane was shipped to Immingham directly from the Gottwald factory in Dusseldorf, Germany. The new crane, which is 50 m high and weighs approximately 280 tonnes, took four days to reach Immingham by sea.
Mike Sellers, ABP port manager for Grimsby and Immingham, explained that the new crane will be used for lifting a variety of cargoes: "The new crane will be used to move anything from bulk cargoes to hook work and everything in between."
He adds that the latest purchase forms part of Immingham's planned programme of ongoing investment.
