August 3 - HLI Rail & Rigging has acquired a new 20-axle railcar, which is currently under construction and expected to be ready for service early in 2018.
The railcar, which is based on the popular Schnabel car design, features a deck that can be installed when needed. According to HLI, it will be one of the largest commercially available railcars of its type.
Ross McLaren, partner at HLI, said: "We bought this railcar to fill the gap that will be left when the existing similar railcars come to the end of their lifespans and go out of service during the next few years."
Similar railcars are currently operational in HLI's fleet.
