July 24 - Hegmann-Gruppe of Sonsbeck has received approval to construct a new multimodal heavy cargo terminal in Wesel.
The new facility will be built in Deltaport Group's Rhein-Lippe Harbour. Hegmann will invest in the region of EUR10 million (USD13.46 million) to build a 45,000 sq m warehouse for the storage of heavy and project cargoes, such as crane parts and cable drums. Four cranes with a lift capacity of 25 tonnes, as well as two 200-tonne capacity cranes will also be stationed on site.
The planned investments will enable the new terminal to load and discharge three vessels simultaneously while providing an ideal location to serve the port of Rotterdam, says the company.
