BigLift Shipping has enhanced the lifting capacities of the two mast cranes on its heavy lift vessel Happy Star to offer a combined lifting capacity of 2,200 tonnes.
The cranes were upgraded at Huisman’s service and assembly facility in Schiedam, the Netherlands in response to a growing demand for heavy lift vessels with lifting capacities of over 2,000 tonnes, says BigLift.
Other functionalities, such as man riding, offshore load curves and an anti-collision system, were also installed or upgraded.
After completing a thorough testing programme, and with each crane now boasting a maximum lifting capacity of 1,100 tonnes, the vessel will depart for Porto Maghera, Italy, to load two 1,500-tonne reactors.
