February 25 - The Global Project Logistics Network has appointed a new member in Iraq.
Turkish forwarder Kita Logistics has established a new branch and distribution centre in Erbil, located in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq which is mineral rich and expected to see significant development in the near future.
According to Gary Dale Cearley, executive director of the GPLN, Kita's head office in Istanbul has a dedicated department for Middle East and CIS transshipments and has been loading around 1,000 trucks per year to the region.
Project cargo or container loads going into northern Iraq could be transshipped via Mersin or Iskenderun and sent directly to the final destinations in Iraq, Cearley advised, while overland shipments coming from Europe going into Iraq could be transported using Kita's fleet of more than 100 trucks.
The Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN) is a non-exclusive professional projects logistics network of independent companies specializing in international projects movements.
