August 7 - IAG Cargo - the air freight unit of the International Airlines Group - saw the two largest members of its fleet, the B747-8F and the A380, meet for the first time at London Stansted International airport.
The A380 was recently delivered to British Airways and is currently undertaking induction flights before entering service later this year. The aircraft has been optimised to handle bellyhold cargo; it features two additional ULD positions and an improved maximum takeoff weight 12 tonnes greater than other A380s currently in the sky.
IAG Cargo's 136-tonne payload B747-8F operates from London Stansted and provides scheduled and chartered services. The aircraft has 16 percent more volume and 18 tonnes of additional lift capacity in comparison to the older B747-400F.
IAG Cargo is the single business unit created following the merger of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo.
