January 14 - Dubai-based global shipping, logistics and marine services group GAC has reported a series of management changes relating to its operations in the Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Africa.
Christer Sjödoff, who to date had held two portfolios as Regional Director for Asia Pacific region and Group Vice President, GAC Solutions, is moving to Dubai "to focus on driving the fast-growing GAC Solutions business as the dedicated Group Vice President".
Bengt Ekstrand is moving to Singapore to take over from Mr Sjödoff as Regional Director for Asia Pacific. Prior to that appointment Ekstrand was the Regional Director Middle East for over six years and had previously held various management positions in Bahrain and Oman.
Dan Hjalmarsson replaces Ekstrand as Regional Director, Middle East.
Hjalmarsson had three decades of experience in the shipping and logistics business, including over 11 years of local management experience in Dubai and Saudi Arabia with GAC.
Moving from Nigeria to Dubai, Peter Bengtsson will fill Hjalmarsson's position as Managing Director, GAC Dubai. Bengtsson brings over 20 years of experience in the shipping industry, the past five years of which had been spent with GAC as Managing Director in Singapore and, most recently, Nigeria.
Neale Proctor had taken over Bengtsson's position as Managing Director, GAC Nigeria. Proctor was the Managing Director of PT Andhika GAC where he was responsible for GAC's shipping services across Indonesia. In a company statement, GAC explained that Dan, Christer and Peter would have overseen some related projects in their previous roles, though not in-depth project management execution as there are specific staff involved in the direct execution of projects in which GAC has a growing reputation.
