January 8 - Almajdouie Logistics together with its sister company Rabigh Petrochemical Logistics (RPL) has handled the first export shipment of petrochemical products through the King Abdullah port in Saudi Arabia for PetroRabigh.
The shipment, which marks the first export operation of the King Abdullah port, consisted of 54 containers of polymer material shipped on board a carrier heading to Singapore.
"The shipment is a significant step forward in the export operations of PetroRabigh products due to the proximity of the port to the headquarters of the company's operations," commented Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Suwailem, president and ceo of PetroRabigh.
King Abdullah port is Saudi Arabia's newest port facility and the first privately owned and funded port in the country, which is being constructed at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) on the country's Red Sea coast and is strategically located to serve the East-West transhipment of cargo.
"The port is an important infrastructure investment which is, among other things, aligned with Saudi Arabia's strategy of developing downstream industries so as to drive value and job creation," said regional analyst, Jarmo Kotilaine.
Almajdouie Logistics is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) and Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) networks in Saudi Arabia.
