November 21 - Fesco Transportation has completed the delivery of five tunnel boring machine shields from Shanghai to Moscow.
The equipment will be used to construct stations for the Moscow Metro.
Fesco was appointed by China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) to provide a full range of logistics services, including intermodal transportation and Customs clearance. The consignment was delivered in batches of two and three shields, respectively.
The first batch of three shields, which had a total volume of 6,723 cu m and a weight of 1,870 tons (1,696.4 tonnes), was shipped from Shanghai via the Northern Sea Route to the Port of Bronka, Russia. 954-tons (865.5-tonnes) of equipment was delivered to Moscow by river, with the remainder trucked to the final project site.
The second shipment, which had a total weight of 1,225 tons (1,111.3 tonnes) and volume of 4,479 cu m, was also delivered via the Northern Sea Route to Bronka, before being shipped to Moscow by river and road.
Fesco said that the average time taken to ship the cargoes from Shanghai to Moscow was three months.
