March 8 - Luxembourg headquartered trailer manufacturer Faymonville has reached an agreement to purchase 100 percent of the shares in Italian trailer manufacturer Industrie Cometto.

Speaking at the ConExpo exhibition in Las Vegas, Alain Faymonville, president of the Faymonville Group, said the acquisition of Cometto would enable Faymonville to take great strides in the self-propelled modular trailer (SPMT) segment, while strengthening its market position.

"We will invest more in production, service and sales, " he said, adding that there is "nearly no overlap" between the product ranges offered by the two trailer manufacturers.

Under the Max trailer brand, Faymonville produces semi-trailers with a payload capacity between 5-60 tonnes. Faymonville also markets a range of non-propelled trailers with capacities between 80-1,000 tonnes. Cometto's core market is the manufacture and development of SPMT units. The three brands will continue to be to be used, moving forwards.

Alberto di Stefano, export and development manager at Cometto, also welcomed the deal, adding that Cometto's strengths in the SPMT arena and global markets, particularly Latin America, will complement Faymonville's product range and presence .
