October 26 - DKT Allseas has been appointed as liner agent for National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia's (Bahri) new UK-Gulf ro-con service, which starts in November 2015.
This new service, as reported by HLPFI Last week, will offer shippers a completely new option for shipping heavy ro-ro, project and containerised cargoes between the UK and the Gulf region.
The self-geared ro-con vessels that will be deployed on the route offer 6.8 m door height clearance, 250-tonne ramp capacity and two 120-tonne MacGregor deck cranes with tandem lift capacity of 240 tonnes. The vessels are equipped to carry standard containers, rolling vehicles, tracked vehicles, static cargo, project cargo alongside high and heavy cargo.
The port rotation will be Jeddah, Tilbury, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Bilbao, Port Said, Dammam, Jeddah, with other ports served by inducement.
"We are delighted to have been appointed as agents to serve Bahri on this important new service," said Allseas Global Logistics group commercial manager Mark Binge. "This is a totally new service calling into the UK and will provide shippers with a valuable new option for connecting with the Gulf region.
DKT Allseas Shipping, a 50/50 joint venture set up in 2014 between DKT and Allseas, is based in Allseas' Tilbury offices.
