April 4 - Mark Delaney has been appointed managing director of GAC India, following the retirement of Paul Haegeman, who has held the position since 2004.
Delaney brings over 30 years of industry experience to his new role, where he will be responsible for overseeing the continued growth of GAC's shipping and logistics businesses in India.
Having worked at GAC for 23 years, Delaney has held various managerial positions, including managing director of GAC Thailand, managing director of GAC Abu Dhabi, commercial director of GAC Marine and commercial development manager of GAC China.
GAC's group vice president, Fredrik Nyström, commented on the prospects for the company in India, with cargo volumes increasing steadily at the country's ports and set to grow by more than 60 percent in 2017.
"It will be interesting to see how developments in India's ports and road infrastructure unfold under the Sagar Mala project. Such infrastructural projects investments and increasing cargo traffic will benefit shipping and logistics services providers like GAC," added Nyström.
