August 2 - A deep-water jack-up rig vital for the development of the Bentley oil discovery located in Block 9/3b in the North Sea, 160 km east of Shetland Isles on the western edge of the Viking Graben, has been delivered on time by the Keppel FELS shipya
The rig will now be transported to Dundee, UK on OHT Hawk heavy lift vessel for final testing prior to installation and deployment onto the Bentley field.
OHT (Offshore Heavy Transport) is a Norwegian oil service company which owns semi-submersible heavy lift vessels, all former tankers. The ships are owned by single purpose limited companies. The company says it is the second largest heavy lift vessel owner in the world.
In December, 2008, Ocean HeavyLift acquired its commercial manager Offshore Heavy Transport. The acquisition has transformed the company into a fully-integrated heavy transport operator. As the combined company capitalises on the strong experience and merits of the OHT team, the company's name was changed from Ocean HeavyLift to Offshore Heavy Transport.
