July 25 - Netherlands headquartered Amarcon - a member of the ABB Group - has received an order for two OCTOPUS-Onboard motion monitoring systems from CJ Korea Express.
The systems will be employed on the heavy freight cargo vessels M.V. KOREX SPB No. 1 and M.V. KOREX SPB No. 2.
The OCTOPUS-Onboard system is designed to provide motion monitoring, vessel response prediction, heavy weather decision support, and weather window evaluation, using accelerometers installed onboard a vessel. Users can download, display and analyse all measured motions and accelerations collected by the vessel. Google Maps integration allows users to view a vessel's routeing and position.
"It is good to see that OCTOPUS has become such an established name within the heavy lift cargo shipping sector. In total we have had thirteen orders for vessels that are involved in the heavy lift cargo transportation within the last two months," said Amarcon general manager, Leon Adegeest.
Seoul, South Korea headquartered CJ Korea Express is the result of a merger between Korea Express and CJ GLS. The merged entity provides worldwide logistics services including contract and project logistics, freight forwarding, stevedoring and international express services.
