July 18 - China Energy Engineering Group Co. Ltd (CEEC) won the CB02 contract to transport 151,000 tonnes of steel structures for use in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge project, which will connect Hong Kong on the east bank of the Pearl River Delta to Z
CEEC will deliver non-navigable span bridge, steel box beam and steel pylon structures for use in the development.
The first 24-axle lines of SMPTs - supplied by Tianjie Heavy Industries, parent company of Shanghai based Fulangjie Import and Export Co Ltd - have been mobilised to Zhongshan, China to transport steel box beams - marking the beginning of the project (pictured).
Another 96 lines of SPMTs will be delivered to the project in the second half of 2013.
When completed, the main bridge and tunnel will measure approximately 50 km. Total capital investment in the project is estimated to be RMB79.20 billion (USD12.9 billion) and the China Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao governments are funding the project respectively.
