June 3 - CEA Project Logistics Thailand has opened two new logistics bases in Laos and Vietnam.

CEA says that its new operations in Laos and Vietnam will complement its already established facilities in Thailand and Myanmar. The company has a base in Yangon, Myanmar and recently opened in Songkhla, Thailand to focus on the oil and gas sector in the south of the country.

According to CEA, Vietnam's logistics infrastructure is already on a level with Thailand and will soon surpass it as the South East Asian nation is more accommodating to foreign investments.

In addition, noted the company, Vietnam's location on the Gulf of Tonkin and the China Sea give it access to major seaborne trade routes. While Laos has not yet reached the same stage of development as Vietnam, it is emerging quickly and is positioning itself as a logistics hub in the region, especially in the mining and power generation sectors, said CEA.

CEA has been operating in Laos for over two years, undertaking several cross border transportation projects, and said that it believes now is the right time to expand with its own logistics base in the country.

Meanwhile, another CEA group company - CEA Engineering Thailand - has joined forces with Sky Climber Spain to deliver services in the façade permanent access sector. Both parties will offer specialised engineering, project management and execution services for owners, architects, EPC contractors and facility management contractors.

CEA Engineering subsidiary CEA Surelift also recently supplied a custom-made spreader beam, with a safe working load of 600 tonnes, to Turkmenistan for a lifting operation planned by KTL Singapore.
